(I love this chair. It was just hanging out...)
Next is my favorite residential building in San Francisco. If I could choose to live anywhere in the Bay Area, it would be here. This Streamline Deco masterpiece was featured prominently in the 1947 Humphrey Bogart film " Dark Passage." On the facades of this building are three large silver relief-friezes. The friezes are stunning; the first showing California as a beautiful woman under a rainbow. The next frieze shows a European settler bravely exploring the Bay in a majestic old world sailboat. The third frieze depicts a stylized man, holding the world in his hand, stepping over the bay bridge with airplanes sailing above his head. I really love the prominent usage of airplanes as a design feature in the friezes, to indicate man's progress and ambition., and the exciting advances in technology bringing man out of the old world and into a life of leisure and luxury! Architect: Irvin Goldstine, 1937
Maybe if I just close my eyes and imagine buying the penthouse, currently for sale, I will find a way. Ommm...
I have to post a few pics of the interior of the penthouse. They are from the listing agents website...
Anyone have a cool $1,500,000 burning a hole in your pocket?

So today has been a great day for me discovering new design and manufacturers. This afternoon, I stumbled across the website of Vladimir Kagan. His furniture is WONDERFUL! His sofas are just to die for. I perticularly like his Free Form Sofa, or Floating Curve Sofa. Next time I have $50,000 burning a hole in my wallet (heh!)...
Above are my favorite examples of his work, mostly from the 1950's. Be sure to check out his website though, as his furniature varies quite a bit, and included here are the smaller simpler pieces. Even though I have already mentioned them above, be sure to notice the classic collection sofas... they are just beautiful.

I have no idea what I would do with it. Maybe it would be just the thing to carry weed in. Perhaps I could wear it around my neck and keep my keys in there so I never loose them. It would also be perfect to whip around on that little chain and whack any potential attacker with. I guess that's how I should justify it. I need it for my safety. So....... go buy it for me!!
Sometimes I dream about what it would be like if I had a chance today to buy a property. What would I live in if I had the choice to pick anything? I guess that would be Villa Savoye.
This is the wee house. They are a set of modular home building blocks like legos. I like this small single studio. I would need a HUGGGGEEEE barn just outside of the frame to fill with my chair collection but I think that I could get down like this... This winter photo reminds me of home too, so I had to post it. Maybe someone will buy me this and me and my sister can both live in modern modular style...Here's the link to Weehouse's website.
I think really though, this will probably be a few years off. I am too young for such opulence. Here is something that I stumbled across that would be a pretty sweet other choice, at least until I am able to afford my Parisian modernist estate.
I just have to put one more picture of my dream home's dream tub...

Here are some sweet pieces of furniture designed by Olivier Mourgue. What happened to the future??!
Olivier Mourgue was born in Paris, France in 1939. He is an industrial designer and landscape architect. His work appeared in Stanley Kubrick's 2001 a space Odyssey as the furnishings for the Hilton rotating hotel in Space.
I need his human shaped chaise lounge.
